Over the past few years, Oswaldo Ruiz (Monterrey, N. L., 1977) has photographed petroglyphs in various locations across Mexico, the United States, and Chile. "Piedra que habla" (Speaking Stone) consists of the records he has made as a working log for this research. His interest in petroglyphs, as a form of representation analogous to photography, runs through various projects and concerns of the artist. This publication offers a visual essay that moves away from the interpretation of writing and the very construction of the image, to create, in each reading, through the juxtaposition and free interplay of photographs, diverse associations between temporalities and latitudes.
