At first glance, reading is a simple act: all you have to do is turn the pages while your eyes decipher the written signs on them. But reading is also a fantastic act: it allows us to learn about other thoughts and experiences, to imagine other worlds. There is something in reading that feeds the passionate obsession of the reader; by unraveling the words in books, life is transformed.

In this brief essay, which plays with narration and poetry, Luna Miguel tells us how the Reader reads during the summer. Fiercely progressing through books she finishes in days, or lingering for weeks on others, she discovers that there is a relationship between the desire to read and her flirtatiousness. It is no longer about figuring out why one reads and what good it does, but about heroically surrendering to the act of reading itself and giving oneself over to excess as to an adventure. Wearing a pink bikini or topless under the sun, the Reader seems to renounce the idea that one reads in the ascetic solitude of the mind. One reads with others, with lovers and friends; reading requires, above all, the awakening of all the senses and their pleasures.
