"El Rastro" is a text about a burial and the feelings of the protagonist as she gazes upon the body of a man with whom she lived for a long time, whom she had stopped seeing and now sees again, lifeless. She recalls that body when it was alive and shared a very intense loving relationship with the person looking at him. But, in doing so, that is, in reliving it through writing, the body's decay is canceled out.
Writing allows things to be brought back to life. Of course, writing is, on some level, also a dead body by the very fact that it is something written and the book is an object. However, when one has the possibility to write, to recreate something, life is recovered. This is the most beautiful aspect of writing: the ability to resurrect what disappears. Margo Glantz.
