echoes through the storeroom— José Luis Arroyo Robles

eco hace troje is a publication by José Luis Arroyo Robles, inspired by the traditional construction system of the P'urhépecha Troje from Michoacán, designed as an interactive game to explore this vernacular architecture.

The publication includes:

A laser-cut wooden board with the necessary pieces to build a scale Troje.

Four paper-printed tapancos, detachable and assemblable with glue.

A postcard that displays a series of photographs of Troje locations in different contexts.

A printed surface that simulates the wooden base of the construction system.

A cloth that functions as an architectural plan or plot to place the pieces.

This interactive material proposes an alternative way to approach research on vernacular architecture that adheres to the context and customs of a territory. Beyond presenting the theoretical or social foundations that support this research, this architectural system can be replicated at scale, creating a material understanding of a habitable space. The Troje is a system that considers its different inhabitants in the dwelling, people and seeds, thus highlighting the symbiotic relationship between them.
