Carcoma features two unnamed women: a grandmother and her granddaughter living in a house lost in a rural region of Spain, in a village where neighbors despise them openly but secretly ask for their help. Inside the walls they inhabit, things happen. There are noises, voices, beings hiding under the bed, a wardrobe whose doors swallow like jaws. Grandmother and granddaughter have coexisted with shadows, saints, and the deceased who arrive tired of wandering the mountains. Living there is a curse, because even if they want to, in reality, none of the women of their lineage can leave. The house shudders with them, sharing the same resentment that consumes them: for four generations they have been victims of abuse and violence, gnawing inside them is the rage of knowing they are destined for mistreatment and to serve the same family to survive. But even if the house is an inheritance that condemns them, it will also be the scene of their revenge. The shadows have always been on their side.
